Cancellation & Payment Policy
IABC/Brazos Valley offers communicators several professional development events throughout the year. These events frequently include a meal as part of the package. To ensure that we have enough food prepared to meet demand, we ask that you RSVP by the deadline stated on the website. What you may not know is that immediately after the RSVP deadline, we place an order with the caterer based on the number of RSVPs, and we are charged for that amount even if fewer people show up. That leaves the chapter taking a loss, since there is very little “profit” in our pricing.
We will consider your cancellation request prior to the RSVP deadline for extenuating circumstances. Please note that with cancellations, IABC/BV still must pay a processing fee for a portion of the ticket price. If you must cancel your RSVP after the registration deadline, we will not refund your registration fee. However, we will allow someone else to attend in your place. No-shows will not be refunded.
Payments and Refunds
As a volunteer-run professional organization, we understand that folks have different payment needs depending largely on where they work. Some of our members pay out of pocket, others pay out of pocket but need receipts for reimbursement, and others are covered by purchase orders directly by their employers. The chapter does not exist to make money, but to provide high-quality professional development and networking opportunities to its members. We make every effort to keep costs reasonable while providing value.
Payments will be accepted via credit cards online through Google Checkout, prior to an event. IABC/Brazos Valley will no longer invoice individuals, companies or Texas A&M University departments. We also do not accept payment at the door; all registration fees are due in advance.
If you pre-pay for an event and cancel by the RSVP deadline, we will gladly refund your money (see cancellation statement above). If you cancel after the deadline and do not find a replacement, we are unable to refund your payment, as we still incur a cost for the meal we ordered on your behalf.
